So, why this game? what is it about?

Imagine that the only online game you play is the classic Town of Salem.

Imagine also that this game has remained exactly the same for over a decade, and that due to this stagnant dullness, with fewer and fewer users, and that it seems that the game may shut down at any given moment, and you are constantly waiting for some update that will implosively revive the game.

Like that's ever gonna happen.

So, The Hacker is the response to that disappointment.

Enter an online lobby, choose a nickname, receive a random role, and start talking! You'll have to talk a lot with the other players to figure out which ones are lying and which ones are being honest.

talk, talk. talk.

It's like an immersive simulation of the forums and chat rooms that emerged during the rise of the internet, when we didn't know exactly who was on the other side of the screen.

takeaways

In the end, this project became a kind of outlet for ideas about the similarity and lack of personality that many current interfaces have. The projection to the early 2000s and the early internet era, when most interfaces were made by developers and were extremely maximalist, projected immense creativity in the way this application was designed.

Personal growth

In the midst of a project that started out as fun, I ended up exploring full stack code, taking a short online course, and ultimately applying that programming knowledge in Unity. With some extra time, I will eventually ship this complete game app later this year.
